Prof. Youcef Hdouch

Prof. Youcef Hdouch is a distinguished Professor of Linguistics and Discourse Analysis at Ibn Tofail University, Kenitra, Morocco. His academic interests span the multifaceted dimensions of language structural, functional, and societal with a particular focus on political discourse and its role in shaping narratives within the Arab world.

He has authored several books and scholarly articles on Berber phonology and morphologycultural and political systems in the Arab world, and propagandist discourse. His notable works include Semantic Battles and the Linguistic Normalization Conundrum: The Case of Political JargonSurveying Political Dynamics in the Arab WorldCultural Dimensions and Policy Design in Morocco, and Deconstructing Polisario’s Propagandist Discourse.

Prof. Hdouch has served as Head of the English Studies Department (2020–2025) and currently directs the Laboratory Language and Society (URAC56) at the Faculty of Languages, Letters and Arts. He has led several international academic collaborations, including Tempus and Erasmus Plus projects such as SWINGPACESINSIDE, and Dialangues. Since 2020, he has also coordinated Virtual Tabadul, an exchange initiative with Florida International University, funded by the Stevens Initiative and sponsored by the U.S. State Department.
